Background on the iPad

Apple is a leading producer of computers and mobile devices. Since the earliest years of personal computers, this company has had a stake in the game. For a long time, it was always Apple versus Microsoft, but in recent years, the company is finding competition from many others as well. This is especially true when it comes to the iPad products.

While many others make tablets, Apple keeps its edge by having exclusivity. Only Apple products use the Apple iOS. Only Apple products can use the Apple Store for apps. The main competitor is Android, which is an operating system used by a variety of other companies for their tablets. While Android is number one, Apple comes in strongly in second place.

The iPad is a basic tablet that allows users to watch television shows and movies, listen to music, surf the web and download apps. It runs the iOS mobile operating system, which is the same used for the iPhone. Users who buy Apple products tend to buy all Apple products, so if someone already has an iPhone or iPod, they are very likely to buy an iPad if they want a tablet.

The first version of the iPad was introduced in 2010. The iPad Pro 2 line was released in 2017. This line is unique in that it offers larger screen sizes. Many competitors stick to smaller screens for tablets, somewhere between seven and 10 inches. The iPad Pro 2 line features the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models. They are considered convertible tablets because they can be used as a laptop.

iPad Pro 2 Specifications

It also adds to the functionality of this device.

The iPad Pro 2 has 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM memory. It also has dual channel Wi-Fi to allow users to make use of 5G technology if desired. The tablet is enabled with Bluetooth 4.2. It has a 2.34 GHz CPU and 12-core PowerVR Series 7XT GPU.

Pricing

When it comes to pricing, one thing you will notice is that prices are pretty standard. It doesn't matter if you buy directly from Apple or buy from another retailer. You are going to be looking at the same basic prices. There may be a rare sale from time to time, but you probably should not count on getting any steep discounts until the iPad Pro 2 is older and out of date. However, even then, prices are still likely to be pretty high compared to its competitors. Keeping that in mind, let's look at your options and the different pricing as given by Apple.

The 10.5-inch option has a base price of $649. This gives you the tablet at 64 GB with Wi-Fi connectivity only. You can add cellular connectivity to make the total price $779. If you want 256 GB, the base price with Wi-Fi only goes to $799. With cellular added, the price raises to $929. Finally, the 512 GB sells for $999 with Wi-Fi only and goes to $1129 with cellular added.

The 12.9-inch option starts at $799 for 64 GB with Wi-Fi only. Add in cellular, and the price becomes $929. If you want 256 GB with Wi-Fi only, you will pay $949. If you want to add cellular, you will pay $1079. Your final option is 512 GB. With Wi-Fi only, it is $1149. Add cellular coverage, and the price becomes $1279.

You can get free engraving on any iPad if you are ordering directly from Apple. You can also get up to $250 in credit if you turn in an old device. Finally, for an additional $99, you can get AppleCare, which will provide technical support and coverage for accidental damage for two years.

Comparison

Comparison shopping is very important when you are looking at tablets because there are so many options and each option is so different. You can better understand what the best choice is for your needs by looking over what is available. When it comes to the iPad, there is a lot of competition. However, it also stands out as unique, especially the 12.9-inch option because other tablets do not come in that size. In addition, the iPad Pro comes with more storage than most other competing devices. Finally, Apple products cost more. Typically, when comparison shopping, you will compare similarly priced items, but in this case, we just went with the top competitors based on specifications.

Users like the versatility of this product and do feel the light weight is great for portability. However, with the huge operating system and programs, the tablet can run sluggishly, especially when multitasking, which is something that Apple seems to do better with handling.

Samsung is a very popular brand, especially for mobile devices. It gives Apple a run for its money by producing quality products. The Galaxy Tab also runs on the popular Android platform, which offers the most apps and is something many people are very familiar with using. This does give it an edge because some people are very loyal to Android. The Galaxy Tab also looks good and has a very long battery life. It does, however, lack a bit in memory. However, it runs fast, which is a big pro for this tablet.

Plus, Amazon runs special pricing all the time for even better deals. If you really cannot spend a lot on a tablet, then this might be the best choice. However, as a convertible option, the Fire is lacking. It does best as a straight tablet even though you can get an external keyboard for it. Another area where it doesn't quite stand up to the iPad is in speed. The Fire can often run slow. On the plus side, it is very durable, and users feel it is a great value.

  • Works better than a laptop
  • Amazing colors
  • Fast processing speeds

Cons

  • Expensive

Conclusion

Our rating reflects that Apple did a great job with creating the iPad Pro 2. We felt the build quality matches the pricing, and even though it is expensive, it is worth it. We like that Apple builds trust with its customers. We value that this brand is something consumers can stand behind because it offers consistent quality.

The product itself is great. You have options to customize it to your needs. The laptop function is really nice and gives you a true convertible experience where the device functions well in both modes. You can trust in the iOS platform to deliver a smooth and fast experience.

Overall, we recommend this device. We think you will get good value. However, keep in mind a newer version is in the works, so you may want to hold off until it comes out to see if it better suits your needs or if the iPad Pro 2 prices go down. You may also want to be sure there are not slow down issues with this model when the new one comes out since this is sometimes a problem with Apple products. In the end, though, we feel confident in recommending this to anyone who wants a good 2-in-1 tablet.

iPad Pro 10.5 : The Comprehensive Product Review

ipad pro 10.5

When it comes to computer technology, there are some names that really stand out. One of those top names is Apple. This company has long been at the top. It is a well-known company that works hard to bring innovation and reliability to its consumers. It also is a bit different from anything else on the market, which allows it to hold onto its uniqueness even when it is producing products that are available from others.

Apple's iPad Pro 10.5 from the second-generation line is a 2-in-1 tablet that allows for functionality as a laptop in addition to being a good tablet. There are plenty of other tablets on the market, but this one is strengthened by having the Apple operating system and functions typical of an Apple device.

Learn more about this iPad option. Find out about its specifications. See what makes it good and what may be not so good about it. Discover what you will pay if you want to own one, and look at how it compares to the top competitors' devices to see if this is the right choice.

iPad Background

The iPad is just one product in a long line that has come to represent Apple as a brand. The iPad joins the iPhone and iPod as the top mobile products this company produces. While Apple has always had very stiff competition, the company has done a great job of producing its products to stand out and to really draw customers in. For many people, Apple is all they will buy. This unique experience is something the company cashes in on time and again.

The iPad runs on the iOS mobile operating system. The biggest competitor to this is the Android operating system. Android is ranked number one, but Apple is a close second. The iOS is very exclusive and only found on Apple products, while Android is used by many different brands, which is probably a large reason why Android maintains the spot.

ipad

The first iPads were introduced in 2010. The original, while much different than the iPad Pro second generation introduced in 2017, is actually similar in many ways to the newer models. Apple keeps things stable for users, so going from one generation or model to the next is not a huge jump. However, each new introduction does bring different features and changes that enhance the user experience.

The iPad Pro 2 offers two size options, 10.5 inches and 12.9 inches. The 10.5-inch option provides a nice comparison to other tablets on the market, but it still is much larger than many competitors' largest-sized tablet. This helps the iPad Pro 2 to act more like a laptop if that is what the user wants.

Specifications

The iPad Pro 2 in the 10.5-inch size provides a very practical tablet and a highly useable convertible laptop. With the exclusive Smart Connector feature, turning the tablet into a laptop is literally effortless. There is no need to sync up anything as the Smart Connector does it automatically when the keyboard is connected or disconnected. It makes it easy to go from tablet mode to laptop mode without ever slowing down your productivity.

You do get some options. You can choose from 64 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB. The tablet has a 2.34 GHz CPU. For the GPU, you get a 12-core PowerVR Series 7XT. Memory is 4 GB LPDDR4. The iPad Pro is also Bluetooth 4.2 compatible and has dual-channel W-Fi. You can get this tablet with Wi-Fi only connectivity or add cellular connectivity.

The camera is worth talking about, which is typical of Apple products. You can get amazing images or capture great video thanks to the many features of the camera. These include auto HDR, backside illumination, exposure control, cinematic video stabilization, 4K video recording, burst mode, geotagging and 3x digital zoom. The camera also offers slo-mo, time lapse, burst mode, timer mode and panorama up to 63 MP. There are also some improvements in this generation in local tone mapping, noise reduction and face detection. Looking at the camera itself, some technical aspects to note include the six-element lens, hybrid IR filter, True Tone LED flash and a sapphire crystal lens cover.

Moving on to the display, you will immediately notice how vibrant, rich and sharp it is. It is a true experience with 2224 x 1668 pixels resolution. The screen is multitouch with a wide color display. It features a few coatings to make for a better experience. You get an oleophobic coating to help stop smudges and fingerprints. You get a scratch-resistant coating to help avoid unsightly scratches. It also has an antireflective coating so you can better use the tablet in a variety of settings. The screen is also fully laminated. It has a True Tone, ProMotion display with a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Pricing

One thing to note about Apple products is that they do not come cheap. In fact, Apple is one of the most expensive brands in mobile devices. You pay for quality and brand recognition. With that in mind, you can buy Apple products from a number of retailers or buy direct from Apple. Do keep in mind that regardless of where you buy, the price is going to be pretty much the same.

Apple iPad Pro (10.5-inch, Wi-Fi, 256GB) - Space Gray

The iPad 10.5-inch option sells for a base price of $649. This gets you 64 GB with a Wi-Fi only connection. You can add cellular capabilities to bring the price to $779. If you want 256 GB of storage, you can get it with Wi-Fi only for $799 and add cellular for the price of $929. For the largest storage capacity of 512 GB, the base Wi-Fi-only price is $999. To add cellular, you will pay $1,129. You can also add AppleCare, which provides two years of technical support along with coverage for accidental damage; the cost is an additional $99. Free engraving is available if you buy direct from Apple.

Do keep in mind that Apple also will offer up to $250 in credit if you turn in an old device. You generally will not find steep discounts, but sometimes sales do happen. As the model gets older, the price will also come down.

Comparison

When comparison shopping, it is common to compare products that are close in price. However, it was hard to do that here because Apple is priced higher than the competition. The next option is comparing on size. We did that to the extent that we could. Many of the competitors do not offer options that are this large. Our final decision was to go ahead and compare the iPad to its top competitors to really give you the most useful comparison.

Samsung has really stepped up and worked hard to find a place as a top runner when it comes to tablets. While the Galaxy Tab may not be right up there with the iPad and the Surface, it is a respected technology. The Galaxy line of smartphones is very popular, so the tablet enjoys some of the brand loyalty. It also is a decent tablet with a great display. It runs on Android, which helps because it is familiar for many users. The biggest con is it has low RAM.

Pros and Cons

Knowing what is good and bad about a product can allow you to make the most informed buying decision. One of the best places to get this information is from reviews. Listening to what people who already own the item think about it can give you a lot of information. The downside is that some people base reviews on things such as delivery that have nothing to do with product function. Others are biased because they have issues with the brand. We went ahead and weeded through reviews for you to get to the heart of things to present you with accurate and unbiased lists of the pros and cons.

Pros

  • Excellent display quality
  • Easy to use
  • Made for travel; compact
  • Lightweight
  • Fast processor
  • Quick web browsing
  • Superior video quality
  • Long battery life

Cons

  • Have to buy upgrades for faster charger and easier carrying, including the Apple pencil
  • Apple tends to have some Wi-Fi issues with connecting and staying connected
  • Expensive

Conclusion

The iPad Pro 10.5 is something we highly recommend. You cannot go wrong with Apple products. It has more than proven that it builds good things. It provides users a great experience. It offers an operating system that does not suck resources and that is user friendly. Most people considering an iPad will have previous experience with Apple products, so these things won't be a surprise.

Apple did a great job with this tablet. Its convertible features are also really nice and work well at this size. While the 10.5-inch screen is on the smaller size when compared to regular laptops, it is super portable. It provides a great overall experience. It is light and easy to carry. The overall function of the product delivers on the promises made by Apple.

Do keep in mind that a newer version is expected to be announced soon. This makes us hesitate a little about the iPad Pro 2. Basically, Apple is known for products slowing down when a new version is introduced. Whether this is due to upgrade issues or some more devious reason, as some suggest, we do know that Apple recognizes it and is trying to avoid that happening, Still, it is a good thing to keep in mind. It may be better to wait for the new version to come out.

Overall, though, we do recommend this product. We feel it is a good choice, especially if you want a tablet and laptop in one that will function in both modes smoothly. Apple does a great job of making sure this is a high-quality product and you get a good value for your money. So, while it may cost more than other options, it is well worth the money in the long run due to functionality and quality.

iPad Pro 12.9 : The Comprehensive Product Review

ipad pro 12.9

Apple has been a big name since the introduction of its first computer. Through the years, it has made an impact on the industry by introducing the famous iPod, iPhone and iPad. The company has a knack for making customers loyal and hooking them on the unique Apple technology. For some people, the only device is one with an apple on it.

The iPad line has gone through many transformations throughout the years. The most recent incarnation is the iPad Pro second generation. There are two options in this line. We want to talk about the iPad Pro 12.9. This tablet really stretches the limits and turns a typical tablet into a viable replacement for a laptop, allowing users more portability than ever.

Find out more about this tablet. Discover how it compares to others. See the good and the bad about it. Read through the specifications to get to know more about it. Get a complete picture of what to expect from the iPad Pro 12.9.

Information On the iPad

Apple has done very well with matching consumer need when it introduces new products. The company listens to what people want and delivers. When it comes to tablets, people are wanting something that is more functional. They want something that is highly portable, light and able to be used in multiple ways. With the iPad Pro line, consumers get just this in a 2-in-1 format.

mockup

The iPad was first put on the market in 2010. The newest option, the second-generation iPad Pro, was released in 2017. The iPad Pro 2 offers two size options, both of which are designed to make this easy to use as a laptop since the focus on this line really is to provide more computing options in the tablet.

What makes Apple truly unique is it is very exclusive. The iPad runs the iOS mobile operating system, which is also used on the iPhone. This operating system has its own app store and design. This is compared to Android, which is used by most competitors and uses the Google Play store for apps. For most people, there is a clear choice between the two, and they tend to stay loyal. However, Apple is very good at creating buzz and creating a good vibe about its products, which helps it to stay on top.

The iPad Pro 12.9 option is unique itself because it is the biggest tablet of the forerunners in this field. The size is exceptionally helpful for those who are aiming to use the tablet as a laptop more so than a tablet. Many convertible options fall short here and do not provide the screen size that makes it functional to use the tablet as a laptop.

Specifications

It also has 3x digital zoom, auto HDR and a True Tone LED flash. The camera has exposure control, autofocus and 4K video recording. You can take advantage of some options as well when taking pictures or capturing video, including time lapse, slo-mo, burst mode and timer mode. It also offers panorama up to 63 MP. Lastly, it has backside illumination and geotagging.

Pricing

You can buy the iPad Pro 12.9-inch device directly from Apple or from almost any retailer that sells electronic, computing or mobile products. The pricing is going to be fairly consistent no matter where you buy it, though. Sometimes a retailer may offer discounts or sales, but keep in mind that Apple products are known for being high priced. You may get a slight discount buying refurbished or used if you are looking to save some money. You can also get up to $250 in credit from Apple if you turn in an old device.

Buying brand new, you can get the 64 GB base model with Wi-Fi connection only for $799. If you want to add in the cellular connectivity, it will cost $929. If you need more storage, the 256 GB with Wi-Fi only is $960. To add cellular, it is $1,079. For maximum storage, you can get the 512 GB for $1,149 with Wi-Fi only. To add in cellular, you get it for $1,279. All iPads come with free engraving if you buy from Apple.

Do keep in mind that you can getting additional protection for accidental damage and access to technical support for two years by adding AppleCare. This will cost an additional $99.

Comparison

Comparison shopping can help you to ensure you buy the right product that meets your needs. Typically, you would compare products of the same price or within the same price range. However, when it comes to the iPad, it is more expensive than the competition. So, we were unable to make that comparison. We also ran into trouble trying to compare by size because nobody else makes a tablet as large as the iPad Pro 12.9. So, we settled on just comparing the iPad to its closest competitors.

As the most expensive tablet on the list, there are high expectations. People who buy the iPad do so because they trust Apple and are loyal to the brand. Even those who do not have loyalty to the brand cannot help but notice all the good reviews Apple products get, which often helps to sway them to make the switch. Furthermore, Apple has amazing build quality and does a great job of making the tablet user-friendly. At this size, it also makes it very convenient to take advantage of the convertible feature and use this as a functional laptop.

The Surface is a serious competitor to the iPad because it is designed to operate as a 2-in-1 as well. However, where this tablet lacks is the OS, which is bulky. This means it can lag and even slow down. It is nice for using Microsoft Office, though. Plus, Microsoft does have excellent build quality. It is smaller, though, with the 10-inch screen being the maximum size available. However, it does come with the keyboard, which will cost you extra with the iPad.

The Galaxy Tab is not as popular as the iPad, but Samsung is respected for quality products. The smartphone in this line, for example, is a top seller. This tablet does have some good aspects, such as the long battery life and the amazing display. It also is lightweight. However, it does have low RAM, which could limit its function.

The Kindle does not function as a 2-in-1. It is really just a tablet. Any use as a laptop is limited. It also only comes in a maximum seven-inch screen. However, price-wise this is a bargain. Amazon also offers amazing specials from time to time that offer an even more discounted price. The Fire does have issues with running slow, but if you just want a tablet and don't want to spend a lot, it can be the best value.

Pros and Cons

Since the iPad is a pricey product, you want to be sure you are getting your money's worth. Knowing how people review this item is helpful. We wanted to compile the information we found in reading through countless user reviews of this product so you can see at a glance the pros and cons. We made sure that we ignored bias and took reviews with a grain of salt. Some people review items right after buying and do not take the time to go beyond initial opinions, which can cloud the review. Another common issue is people who review and rate products based on outside factors, such as delivery. This drags things down, too. We looked through reviews with these things in mind. We understand we had to weed through them to get to the truth. Below we present our findings stripped of bias and including only the most accurate information that give a true idea of the iPad Pro 12.9.

Pros

  • Screen size is great for multitasking and using this as a laptop
  • Fast processing
  • Beautiful display
  • Smooth operation
  • Great sound
  • HDR support

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Won't match everyone's laptop needs
  • Charging is slow unless you buy an upgraded charger
  • Cannot use an external mouse
  • Apple products do tend to slow when new models are introduced

Conclusion

The only real downside to the iPad Pro 12.9 is the cost. However, when buying an Apple product, you know you will pay more. This brand gets away with higher pricing, though, because it delivers. When we look to the competition, they all have some operating issues. Apple does well with producing a product that functions as it should with minimal issues.

The iPad is fast. It runs smoothly. It is built to function well in either tablet or laptop mode. The operating system isn't bulky, which helps with the speed and overall function. It also is user friendly. Furthermore, people like the iOS. They are often very familiar with it and feel comfortable using it. Plus, Apple does a good job of connecting to its customers in a way that instills trust. People know when they buy an Apple product that they can believe in the product.

The only hesitation we have about the iPad Pro 2 is that a new version is expected soon. Typically, when Apple introduces a new version of a product, the older versions run slower and begin having issues. At this price point, it should really be expected that the product will last for a long time and not have these issues. While we cannot say this will happen, it is a good idea to be aware of the possibility.

Overall, though, we do recommend the iPad Pro 2 in the 12.9-inch size if you want a true convertible tablet. It does provide great functionality as a laptop. While it may not meet everyone's needs, it should do a pretty good job for most people.

What Is a Samsung Galaxy Tablet?

Samsung is a South Korean company that is known for their top-selling electronics and home appliances. They are especially esteemed for their mobile devices, like their tablets and smartphones, and are the number one vendor of smartphones worldwide. Samsung is a brand that you can trust that even offers one-year warranties in case anything goes wrong with your product.

Galaxy Tablet is the title given to all of Samsung’s tablets. Samsung sells a large variety of tablets that differ in price, design, and purpose. There are several Galaxy tablet series including the Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Kids Series, and the Galaxy Book Series which includes Samsung’s line of two-in-one tablets that can double as a laptop. All Galaxy tablets can connect to Wi-Fi, but some particular models of Galaxy tabs and other tablets can also be paired with a cellular carrier and run off a data plan.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8'; 16 GB Wifi Tablet (Smoky Blue) SM-T350NZBAXAR

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is Samsung’s entry-level tablet designed for individuals on a budget. The specific Galaxy Tab A 8.0 model we are looking at today is designed to be as light in weight as it is in price. It was designed to look and function similarly to the Galaxy A smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Specifications

If you are considering buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab A, you’ll want to check out its specifications.

Size and Design

The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 weighs less than a pound at 0.79 pounds, is 8.9 millimeters thin and has an eight-inch screen. You can hold this tablet for long periods of time without the tablet feeling heavy or experiencing strain in your arm, and it is easy to grip and store in your bag for when you’re traveling.

The tablet has a plastic frame which makes it look and feel cheap. The older version of this tablet had a rubber back, but this new version has a metal back which has a nicer appearance but is harder to hold. It has a noticeable bezel and comes in either black or silver.

While most of the buttons and controls on the Tab A are in convenient locations, some customers complain that the capacitive buttons on the front of the tablet are hard to use in the dark since they do not have any sort of backlight to make them visible.

Graphics

With an HD resolution of 1280 x 800, the graphics on this tablet are not great. However, that is a step-up from the previous version of the Galaxy Tab A. Some users complained that this tablet has a distracting blue display that can only be fixed using the blue filter which is actually meant for using your tablet at night in the dark. However, other reviews think the colors and contrast of this tablet are good.

This tablet has an IPS panel, and there is a small gap between the touchscreen and panel making it more reflective in bright light. Although the tablet is nice and bright, some customers were very disappointed that the tablet doesn’t have an ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness automatically. One big improvement with this new Galaxy Tab A is that it has a 16:10 widescreen display. This makes it much better to watch movies and videos than previous models that had a lot of black space between the video and the edge of the screen.

Performance

Samsung boasts that the Galaxy Tab A is built with a Li-ion 5000mAh battery that will last up to 15 hours with constant internet use. It has internal memory of 2GB RAM and can store up to 32GB without purchasing an extra microSD card. You can expand this tablet to 400GB with a microSD card. This tablet has a 1.4GHz Quad-Core processor and runs off of Android 7.1.

The device can run basic apps well and performs decently, but you should expect some lagging and stuttering. If you like to play games on your tablet, the Galaxy Tab A will give you some issues. Simple games will run decently, but some more demanding games may stutter so much that they aren’t even worth playing.

Camera

As far as tablets go, the Galaxy Tab A has a decent camera. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera that have both HDR and flash.

Speakers

Many customers complain about the placement and quality of the Galaxy Tab A’s speakers. Some of the main complaints are that one speaker isn’t enough to offer decent sound, that the placement of the speaker is bad and easily covered while using, and that the overall sound quality of the tablet is mediocre even with high-quality headphones.

Software and Apps

One of the main perks of the Galaxy Tab A is the software the tablet comes with. This tablet comes with Kids’ Mode which includes apps that children will love and learn from, prevents children from purchasing anything from the store or within apps, and allows parents to control what their child can access and how long they can be on the tablet.

This tablet also comes with Bixby which tracks your tablet use and previews content that is relevant to you. You will get a three-month free trial to YouTube Red and a lot of preinstalled apps. This tablet also comes with a super useful split-screen view that allows you to use two apps side-by-side.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A Pricing

The 2017 Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 is $199.99 on Samsung’s website. This price will likely go down in the near future, and you can always try to shop around and find this tablet at a cheaper price through another retailer like Amazon.

This model of the Galaxy Tab A is not compatible with Samsung’s S Pen or keyboard, so you will not need to consider paying extra money for those. If you want more than 32GB of memory on your tablet, you will need to purchase a microSD card which can be $13 to over $150 depending on how much extra storage you want.
